Kate Moloney

Kate has completed a Masters of Music Studies (Performance) and a Bachelor of Music (Performance) Honours Class I from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where she studied with world acclaimed harpist and teacher, Alice Giles AM. Kate is a full member of the Music Teachers Association. She is an experienced orchestral harpist performing regularly with orchestras around Australia in the role of Principal and Tutti Harp, including Opera Australia Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and West Australia Symphony Orchestra. Based in Sydney, Kate has played with Ensemble Apex, is a regular with the Sydney Scoring Orchestra recording film and video game soundtracks; and was Principal Harp of The Metropolitan Orchestra for five years, beginning as their inaugural Young Artist in 2017.

A passionate chamber musician, Kate is a regular performer with the Hourglass Ensemble, toured regional Victoria and New South Wales with Momentum Ensemble and a founding member of Penta Harp Ensemble. She often plays as part of recital series throughout Sydney at various venues including the Sydney Opera House and has played at events from the ARIA Awards to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

In 2021, Kate was recipient of the ABC Classic and ABC Jazz Composer Commissioning Fund with composer Christine Pan which was released through ABC Classic in 2022. As well as a performer, Kate is a passionate teacher and tutor in orchestral and chamber settings. In addition to harp, Kate plays flute/piccolo and is a singer.
